For the benefit of the people living in Kirimetithenna, Depalamulla, and surrounding areas who seek knowledge, the Kirimetithenna Public Library, established on 01 March 1995, is now a Grade III public library. The library currently houses approximately eight thousand two hundred twenty-five (8225) books for public reference.

Location:

Located about 4 km from Balangoda town along the Rassagala road. After reaching Wilson Bakery, walk about 10 meters forward, and on the right side of the road lies the Kirimetithenna Public Library under the Balangoda Pradeshiya Sabha.

Library Membership Procedure:

  • Obtain a membership application by paying the required fee.
  • The application must be certified by one of the following:
    • Grama Niladhari of the residential area
    • Justice of the Peace
    • Member of the Pradeshiya Sabha
    • Government Administrative Officer
    • School Principal (for students)
  • The applicant must be a resident, property owner, or permanently employed within the Pradeshiya Sabha limits.
  • General membership fee: Rs. 100. Renewal every two years: Rs. 50.
  • Children’s membership fee: Rs. 50.

Book Lending Procedure:

  • Members may borrow up to two (02) books at a time.
  • Borrowed books must be returned within 14 days.
  • A fine of Rs. 2.00 per book per day will be charged for late returns.
