The Bulathgama Public Library, established on 05 May 1985 for the benefit of the people of Balangoda Bulathgama, Rassagala, and surrounding areas who seek knowledge, has now developed into a Grade III library. At present, eight thousand (8000) books are stored here for public reference.

Location:

From Balangoda town, travel four (4) kilometers along the Rassagala road. After passing Wilson Bakery, go forward about ten (10) meters. The Bulathgama Public Library is located on the right side of the road.

Procedure for Obtaining Library Membership:

  • Paying the fee and obtaining the membership application form.
  • Completing the application form and having it certified by one of the following:
    • Grama Niladhari of the area of residence
    • Justice of the Peace
    • A member of the Pradeshiya Sabha
    • A government executive officer
    • If the applicant is a student, the school principal’s certification
  • The applicant must be a resident, property owner, or permanent employee within the Pradeshiya Sabha jurisdiction.
  • Membership fee for an adult member is Rs. 100.00. Renewal every two years: Rs. 50.00.
  • Membership fee for a child member is Rs. 50.00.

Book Lending Procedure:

  • Library members are permitted to borrow two (02) books at a time using the library card issued to them.
  • Borrowed books must be returned to the library within 14 days.
  • A fine of Rs. 2.00 per day per book will be charged for overdue books.
